Club 33 is an exclusive members-only club in the World Bazaar of Tokyo Disneyland. This 2nd floor restaurant has a spectacular view of Cinderella Castle and a clear view of the parades that go by. Similar to the restaurant in California, Club 33 is used as an elegant place for corporate sponsors to entertain their guests. This is also the only place in Tokyo Disneyland that serves alcohol.
Getting a reservation can only be done by being invited by a member (or being a member yourself of course). I was fortunate enough to have been invited for lunch at this exclusive restaurant. This was one of my dreams, to wine and dine at a place where so few get to go! Who would have thought a kid from the middle of frozen Canada would have the opportunity to dine at such an exclusive restaurant! Alright, let’s talk about my experience at the most exclusive restaurant at Tokyo Disney Resort.
Our reservation was for lunch, so we had to arrive precisely on time. The not-so-obvious door is in plain sight in the World Bazaar (across from the East Side Cafe and beside the Great American Waffle House), with a buzzer so we can tell them we have arrived. After our group got together we buzzed and was greeted by a smiling Cast Member who let us in! When the door opened, I noticed a few people behind us (who were not in our group) were quickly snapping photos and generally curious about what was happening.
So… what is it like inside?
Once we got in, there was the reception desk where they took down our names and belongings. We were the only guests arriving at the time, so all the attention was on us. After that was all sorted, we got into a small elevator and made our way up to the 2nd floor.
When I first stepped out of the elevator, it felt as if I was back in the early 1900s (which I always associate with Titanic, since I that is one of my all time favourite movies). I felt a little underdressed even in my Lacoste button-up shirt (I tried to at least look presentable and not wear anything with Chip N Dale on it, it was tough trust me). The Cast Members looked fantastic!
The dining area was gigantic and had plenty of room as to not feel cramped. The decorations were simply fantastic, there is no other way to put it. I describe it as sitting in the dining room of first class on the Titanic. Even when I had to get up to use the restroom, a Cast Member was right there to pull out my chair and walk me there. I have never experienced anything like this before, so it was a bit jarring but wonderful at the same time.
Now for the best part, eating and drinking! Since this is the only place in Tokyo Disneyland where alcohol is served, I could not pass up that opportunity. I enjoyed a nice cold glass of beer. Nothing like drinking in the middle of the day! I had a salmon steak course which included a several courses and dessert. Don’t worry, I also had another beer with my meal. I took advantage of this rare opportunity.
Without getting into too much detail, every course was mouth-watering. The bread was possibly my favourite along with the salmon steak. My mouth is watering just thinking about.
There is exclusive merchandise which you can buy (but because of the rules surrounding getting in to Club 33, I’m sorry to say I cannot post photos). Included in your meal is also a matchbook with the Club 33 logo and your name on it. I did however buy myself a key chain, which I still keep in the box (I am a nerd like that).
It was amazing.
Overall, this is simply the best restaurant at Tokyo Disney Resort. Yes, even more so than Magellan’s. Which makes sense since this place is exclusive and memberships are near impossible to get. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity and is an experience I will cherish for a lifetime.
