The major expansion at Tokyo Disneyland is set to open on September 28, 2020. Today (September 21, 2020), the Tokyo Disney Resort app updated with a message that translates to “We’re using it [Entry Request system] to test for the grand opening.”
Meaning the Park is doing a soft opening with the new entry request system that’s needed for the time being to get on “Enchanted Tales of Beauty and the Beast,” “The Happy Ride with Baymax,” and “Minnie’s Style Studio.” It’s not known if this soft open will continue to the leadup to the grand opening on the 28th. As with anything, it’s subject to change.
It looks like the shops and restaurants are not open yet. As those require advance reservations that begin later this week.
This new “Entry Request” system is done through the official Tokyo Disney Resort app and is a “Virtual Queue” that many are familiar with at Walt Disney World for Rise of the Resistance. The only difference is this is also a “lottery” where you’re not guaranteed you’ll get it.
