    Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta Review

The moment we stepped inside Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta, I knew we were in for something spectacular. It was June, the rainy season, and when it came time to check-in (15:00) to the hotel my shoes were drenched from being outside all day. After a flawless check-in, a Cast Member noticed my soaked New Balance shoes. They asked, “Did you want us to bring a shoe warmer to your room?” I must have looked stunned at the question because they repeated themselves. I stammered, “Uh, sure, that would be fantastic.” That simple interaction set the bar for the level of customer…

Detective Pikachu Roll Ice Cream Review

To celebrate the release of Detective Pikachu on May 3 in Japan (May 10 for most other places in the world), the ever popular Roll Ice Cream Factory has come up with a delicious collaboration. From now until May 10, 2019, you’re able to devour a limited-time Detective Pikachu Roll Ice Cream! As Pikachu would say “Pika pika, pika!” I called up a friend and asked her if she wanted to join me on a taste bud adventure. Naturally, she said yes because you never say no to ice cream. Knowing it was Golden Week, I made sure we got…

    Hilton Tokyo Bay Hotel Review

“I’m not hungry enough to want the buffet for breakfast,” said a hungry Chris to himself (that’s me), “nor do I want to waste precious time that is better spent waiting to get into Tokyo Disneyland.” That’s when I realized that the Hilton Tokyo Bay Hotel had a Japanese convenience store, conveniently, on the first floor. Serving not only quick and cheap fresh food, but also carrying portable battery chargers (I forgot mine at home). What convenience! The Hilton Tokyo Bay Hotel is one of the most recommended and most popular Official Hotels (Non-Disney) at Tokyo Disney Resort. In my…

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle! Review & Tips

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle! is a new Marvel-themed attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. This is the first attraction to feature Ant-Man and the Wasp and the first Marvel attraction with a female Super Hero as a title character. You’ll fight alongside Ant-Man and the Wasp in an interactive game to help defeat the evil artificial intelligence, Arnim Zola. This attraction officially opened on March 31, 2019, in Tomorrowland beside the Iron Man Experience. It’s a re-theme of the now-closed Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. This is all part of the major multi-year expansion happening at the Park. Hong Kong…

    Explorer’s Club Restaurant Review

The Explorer’s Club Restaurant is a counter service establishment in Mystic Point at Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s an extension of one of my Top 5 Disney attractions in the world — Mystic Manor. It serves up a number of dishes from Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Southeast Asia. As much as I love little Albert ? (he’s the cute little guy you meet in Mystic Manor), thankfully he isn’t the one who prepares the food. I could only imagine the chaos that would ensue. Once you’re done reading my review, you’ll want to start planning your trip to Hong Kong Disneyland with…

Reissue Cafe Review: Adorable 3D Latte Art in Tokyo

Coffee culture in Japan is unique and a world unto itself. From surprisingly delicious canned coffee from a neighbourhood vending machine to limited-time pop-up cafes, if you’re a lover of coffee Japan has you covered. And for those who love latte art, the Reissue Cafe in Harajuku is a must-visit experience. While I’ve cut back on the amount of coffee I’ve been consuming this past year (green tea and hojicha are my poison), I still enjoying finding new places to experience the wonders of coffee. I’ve had plenty of friends (and Explorers) visit Reissue in Harajuku, but I’ve never made the…

Chandu Chicken Curry Steamed Bun Review

The Chandu chicken curry steamed bun is the replacement of the former Chandu Tail at Tokyo DisneySea. Steamed buns are a popular snack throughout Japan and is a staple at the Disney Parks in Japan. You’ll also find variations at convenience stores such as 7-11, Lawson, and Family Mart in Japan. These delicious steamed buns are my default snack if I’m in a hurry and want to grab something from 7-11. When I learned that the Chandu Tail was being replaced with a chicken curry version, I was rather delighted. The truth is, I was never a fan of the…

Harry Potter Cafe in Tokyo Review (Wizarding World Cafe)

The world’s first Harry Potter Cafe (officially called the “Wizarding World Cafe”) is now open in Tokyo and Fukuoka, Japan! There are other Harry Potter cafes around the world, but this is the first official cafe. While I wish this was a permanent cafe, it’s open for a limited time (November 9 – January 31, 2019). The cafe features unique food, drink, merchandise, and decorations (including projection mapping in a multimedia room). Our review covers the cafe in the MyLord Department Store at Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. There’s another cafe in Fukuoka, Japan. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so much so…
