Shanghai Disney Resort is ringing in the Year of the Snake with an exciting array of decorations, entertainment, merchandise, and themed dining experiences. Featuring Gary, the snake from the highly anticipated Zootopia 2, the vibrant Spring Festival celebration will run from January 15 to February 14.
In celebration of the Year of the Snake, which symbolizes wisdom and elegance in the Chinese
Zodiac, Shanghai Disney Resort will introduce Gary, a snake character from the upcoming Disney film, Zootopia 2. Shanghai Disneyland is home to the world’s first and only Zootopia-themed land.
Character Greetings
During the celebration, guests can meet with Disney characters dressed in festive outfits. Mickey and Friends will be dressed in traditionally Chinese-inspired outfits with snake motifs, while Duffy and Friends will be dressed in colourful festival clothes featuring auspicious designs like persimmons and butterflies.
Winnie the Pooh and his friends also join in, dressed in red and gold to mark the occasion, while Goofy takes on the role of the God of Fortune to bring blessings to all. Zootopia residents Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will also join in the festivities, wearing crimson scarves featuring a fireworks design.
Decorations
The park will feature Gary-inspired designs integrated with traditional Spring Festival decorations, such as red lanterns and garlands. Guests can find Gary prominently featured in the Gardens of Imagination, and the Garden of the Twelve Friends, now transformed into a New Year Wishing Garden. Zootopia will be illuminated with lanterns depicting elephants, rabbits, gazelles and other animal residents.
Food and Drink
Shanghai Disneyland is known for its large array of exclusive food and drink offerings, often offering a unique twist on old favourites. For the festive occasion, the Royal Banquet Hall will offer New Year family set menus, while Aurora at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will offer fine dining with fortune-inspired dishes.
In addition to the delicious sit-down food and drink offerings, guests will discover a tasty array of casual treats to enjoy while exploring the park. CookieAnn Bakery Café will offer Mickey-shaped desserts, while Donald’s Dine ‘n Delights will offer exclusive ice cream flavours. A new Duffy and Friends Popcorn Bucket featuring Spring Festival designs will be released to commemorate the occasion.
Merchandise
It is not a Disney celebration without exclusive merchandise! The Spring Festival Zootopia Collection includes keychains, red packets, and other accessories featuring Gary and friends from Zootopia.
Additional collections will be released, including an adorable Duffy and Friends Year of the Snake collection, and the 2025 Mickey and Friends Collection, featuring festive attire inspired by Chinese traditions. Spring Festival Lucky Bags, filled with delightful surprises will also be returning this year.
Duffy and Friends Celebration Hall
Starting January 13, Adventure Isle’s Tribal Table will be transformed into Duffy and Friends Celebration Hall, featuring indoor and outdoor decorations, murals showcasing Duffy and Friends’ activities, and vibrant decor that shifts from day to night. The new menu includes grilled and barbecued foods, along with a series of monthly-exclusive dishes made with seasonal farm produce sourced from
across the country. Diners can also pick up celebration packages and exclusive Duffy souvenirs.
Entertainment
The Spring Festival Celebration: “Our Families” nighttime spectacular will illuminate Enchanted Storybook Castle from January 28 to February 12. The show includes fireworks, projections of Disney families, and a special tribute to Gary, with special fireworks effects writing the Chinese character for “snake” lighting up the sky.

The Adventure of Rhythm will return to the Storyhouse Stage from January 20 to February 16. The live show blends music, dance, and Disney characters in a unique performance. Guests can also enjoy many much-loved traditions sprinkled with Disney magic, including the daily Spring Festival Drum Ceremony, and Mickey Avenue Shanghai Swing.
