Tokyo Disney Resort have announced “Club Mouse Beat“ will be temporarily suspended for several days from February 8th (Tuesday) due to the lack of personnel required for the performance.
The suspension comes following several cast members testing positive for Covid-19 amongst the current surge of Omicron infections affecting Japan. As of publishing, Tokyo Disney Resort have not provided a target reopening date for the show.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the performing arts worldwide, even within the confines of a highly controlled environment such as theme parks, where backstage space can be tight and physical distancing cannot always be maintained.
“Club Mouse Beat” is a high energy live stage show featuring Mickey Mouse and his Friends displaying dynamic performances of hip-hop, Latin, pops, and other styles of dance. The show is performed at Tokyo Disneyland “Showbase”, in Tomorrowland, a partially outdoor theatre venue.
Tokyo and 12 other areas (including Chiba) are under quasi-State of Emergency beginning January 21, 2022, until February 13, 2022. For more information on the current status of Japan’s borders check out our article.
