Coming of Age Day at Tokyo Disneyland

On the 2nd January every year, it is tradition across Japan to hold coming of age day ceremonies to celebrate young people’s transition from childhood to adulthood. The age in Japan to be considered an adult is 20, and it is also the legal age to vote, drink and smoke.
Tokyo Disneyland is one of the most popular places for the ceremonies, where according to the media news website Japan Today, the ladies love to pose for photos with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The young adults dress up in either kimonos for the girls or regular suits for the men.
Tokyo Disney Resort Blog (Japanese Only), has posted several photos from the 2015 celebrations. The ceremony was held at the Showbase theatre, which is also the home for “One Man’s Dream II: The Dream Lives On”. And included several performers and some of your favourite Disney Characters.
Congratulations goes out to everyone who celebrated this huge milestone. And we wish you the best of luck in the future.
