Disney Imagination: What We Know About Japan’s First Disney Cruise Line Ship

Oriental Land Co. (OLC) has announced the name of Japan’s first Disney Cruise Line ship as Disney Imagination. The ship will sail year-round from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, with its debut scheduled for spring 2029.

Disney Imagination will be the first ship operated by Disney Cruise Line Japan, a Disney-branded cruise business established by Oriental Land Co. (OLC), the owner and operator of Tokyo Disney Resort under licence from Disney.

The ship will primarily cater to Japanese guests, offering two- to three-night cruises departing from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal. With no port stops planned, the ship will accommodate approximately 4,000 passengers for a short getaway at sea.

The stern of Disney Imagination will feature Ariel and Sebastian from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, pictured painting the ship’s name. The design continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of featuring Disney characters on the back of its ships.

Entertainment and Dining Onboard Disney Imagination

Disney Imagination will feature a range of entertainment, including original stage productions in a theatre with more than 1,300 seats. Guests can also enjoy character shows on an outdoor deck stage, entertainment programmes throughout the ship, and character greetings featuring exclusive Disney Cruise Line outfits.

Dining will include three main restaurants, each with its own theme and menus that change daily. Around 30 additional food and beverage venues, including cafés and bars, will offer further dining options. Shops onboard will also sell merchandise exclusive to Disney Imagination.

Disney Imagination Cruise Prices

Fares for standard staterooms are expected to range from ¥100,000 to ¥300,000 per person (approximately US$630 to US$1,900), depending on the time of year.

Launch Date and Reservations

Disney Imagination is scheduled to launch in the second half of Oriental Land Co.’s fiscal year 2028, which corresponds to spring 2029. Reservations are expected to open approximately six months before the ship’s launch, with preparations currently underway.
