Universal Studios Japan is continuing its Universal Cool Japan 2026 line-up with a major new addition for fans of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. From May 30, 2026 to January 11, 2027, guests will be able to step into Frieren’s world through a themed restaurant, a story-driven coaster experience, a walkthrough attraction, and a full range of exclusive merchandise.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Restaurant of Memories
The biggest standout is easily “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Restaurant of Memories,” located at the Lost World Restaurant inside Universal Studios Japan. The space is designed like a small town restaurant that could genuinely exist in Frieren’s world. Stained-glass style windows line the space, showing scenes and memories from the journey add to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Each dish ties back to one of the characters or their memories together. Frieren’s beef plate comes with a rich demi-glace sauce, Himmel’s omelet plate focuses on simple comfort food done well, and there’s a hearty set inspired by Eisen and Heiter with hamburg steak and fish and chips.
Even the drinks and desserts carry that storytelling thread, like Frieren’s floral white soda and Fern’s soft-toned parfait that feels light and delicate, just like her character.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Story Walk – A Journey of Remembrance
Starting May 30, guests can step into Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Story Walk — Echoes of Adventure, a limited-time offering that runs through to January 11, 2027. Set after the defeat of the Demon King, you follow Frieren through recreated memories using projection mapping and interactive effects. Expect to see key moments like the meteor shower and encounters with familiar characters, all brought to life with a mix of physical sets and large-scale visuals.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End x Story Ride ~A Journey with the Bird Monster and the Carriage
Over at Hollywood Dream – The Ride, the coaster is getting a limited-time overlay with “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End x Story Ride – A Journey with the Bird Monster and the Carriage.” Guests can experience the thrills of the iconic Hollywood Dream coaster while listening to character dialogue, placing you right inside the action. Just note, this version won’t be available on the Backdrop side of the coaster.
Merchandise
New merchandise will also be released as part of the collaboration, including apparel and accessories based on original artwork created for the event. One of the highlights is a T-shirt featuring Frieren casting a spell that brings a field of flowers to life, which is also one of the key visual motifs of the collaboration.
There are also plush keychains, character headbands, and other wearable items designed more for park days than display shelves. The new merchandise drops on May 29, 2026, just ahead of the event launch.

Getting around Japan by the world-renowned bullet train, known as the Shinkansen, is incredibly fast, reliable, and affordable for visitors. You can travel from Tokyo to Osaka in just over 2 hours. Get the JR Rail Pass to save a ton of money on the bullet train for your trip.
Book Your Hotel
Universal Studios Japan has affordable accommodations that are steps away from the park and have easy access to Osaka. I recommend checking prices through Booking.com followed by the hotels directly. Sometimes, you’re able to score some incredible deals. Here’s a short list of hotels at Universal Studios Japan I recommend.
- The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan – You’re directly in front of the Park gates and have instant access to Universal CityWalk Osaka. The rooms are gorgeous, with restaurants and even a Lawson (Japanese convenience store).
