Disney Resorts around the world celebrate the spirit of Halloween in various ways. In the first of our Disney Halloween series we explore the different Parades and Live Shows put on at all the Disney Resorts.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
Hong Kong Disneyland puts on a unique parade called “Glow in the Park” (夜光鬼魅巡遊) which features Jack Skellington and a number of Disney Villains such as Jafar and Maleficent. It originally included over 100 cast members and happens every evening during their Halloween celebration. It first made its debut in 2007, two years after the park first opened in 2005.
Tokyo Disney Resort
Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea both put on live shows to celebrate Halloween. The celebration called “Disney’s Halloween“. In Disneyland the streets are filled with obake (ghosts) during their afternoon parade named Disney’s Halloween Street “Welcome to Spookyville” (ディズニー・ハロウィーンウェルカム・トゥ・スプーキーヴィル). Where Mickey and friends (which includes ghosts) show off their magnificent and elaborate costumes and put on a dance that everyone can learn and join in! The performance happens twice daily and has a duration of about 40 minutes.
Over in Toyko DisneySea, Mickey and friends put on a lively carnival in the Mediterranean Harbor called “A Halloween Daydream” (ハロウィーン・デイドリーム). The show takes place around the harbor and Mickey, along with a few other friends, appear on the water of the harbor. This is one of the most different shows put on for a Halloween celebration. The performance happens twice daily and has a duration of about 25 minutes.
Disneyland Paris Resort
“Say Hello to Hello-Ween” over in Disneyland Paris with their live spooky show “Mickey’s Halloween Treat In The Street!”. The party takes place in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle (Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant). Where tons of Disney Characters take the Castle Stage in their Halloween best!
Heading back to North America where Disneyland Park puts on Mickey’s Costume Party Cavalcade during Mickey’s Halloween Party. The parade was introduced in 2010 to go along with the other Halloween offerings during the Halloween Party. All your favorite Disney Characters show off their Halloween best and bring with them a Haunted Purple Castle. In 2011 Miss Piggy even made an appearance!
To attend Mickey’s Halloween Party a separate ticket has to be purchased along with your park ticket.
Walt Disney World Resort
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party over at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World also has its own Halloween parade. Mickey’s “Boo-To-You” Halloween Parade brings out the stars of the Haunted Mansion and the Headless Horseman (who also makes an appearance in Hong Kong Disneyland) along with your favorite Disney Characters.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party happens only on select dates and requires an additional ticket has to be purchased along with your park ticket.
That does it for the parades and live shows that are offered during Halloween Celebrations at all the Disney Resorts. Make sure to come back as we explore the other aspects of Halloween at the Disney Resorts.
