Hand-crafted ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ Goods by Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten

Studio Ghibli has collaborated with the traditional Japanese crafts company Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten to develop a collection of highly unique hand-crafted goods inspired by the 1988 classic animated film “My Neighbor Totoro“.

The ‘Ghibli and Crafts‘ collection features handcrafted items inspired by Totoro’s Forest and nature. Items include a highly sought-after hand-carved Totoro figure made from the camphor tree that Totoro lives in, hand-dyed cloth items, plus acorn plates and vases to hold special treasures like Acorns, flowers, and pebbles found while adventuring in nature.

Inami Sculpture Kusunoki Totoro ¥330,000

The highlight of the collection is the Inami Sculpture Kusunoki Totoro crafted using the Inami Chokoku technique dating back to the Edo period. The figure is hand-carved from a camphor tree, Totoro’s home in the classic anime. Since this product is produced in small quantities, it will be sold by lottery only at the Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten online shop.

Founded in 1716, Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten has brought the art of traditional Japanese crafts into the modern age through significant expansion in recent years, with speciality stores across Japan. Their hand-crafted items feature top-quality and stylish modern packaging and are gifts to be treasured.
