Harry Potter Christmas Illuminations in Tokyo
From now until 25th December, Harry Potter themed illuminations and decorations will light up the Marunouchi area in Tokyo in celebration of the 20th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.
Marunouchi Bright Christmas 2021
Christmas Illuminations in Japan are a sight to behold – blanketing large areas with thousands of sparkling lights making for great photos and great memories. This Christmas, Marunouchi Bright Christmas will feature multiple Christmas trees and decorations themed to Harry Potter and the Wizarding World.
During the event period, guests in the Marunouchi area can take part in a digital stamp rally themed to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, take photos with stunning decorations and visit an exhibition dedicated to the films.
Be sure to check out our video of Explorer Chris attending the Harry Potter illuminations below.
Tree of Hogwarts Magic
Found at Marucube on the 1st floor of the Marunouchi Building, the Tree of Hogwarts Magic lights up every night from 5 pm through midnight. A lighting show is held every 10 minutes transforming the tree with 3D holograms of glittery magic and creatures and scenes from the Harry Potter movies.

Tree of Owl Post
The 30-metre tall tree-shaped illumination, “Tree of Owl Post” is said to be the largest illumination tree in Tokyo. The installation can be found at Tokyo Torch Park from 5 pm – 11 pm (extends until midnight from 1st December).

Reminiscent of the iconic scene where Harry receives hundreds of Hogwarts’ letters, the Tree of Hogwarts Letters commemorates the 20th anniversary of the movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. The decoration can be found in Marunouchi Brick Square.
Wizarding World Gallery
Fans of the Wizarding World can brush up on their knowledge of the films at the Wizarding World Gallery. The exhibition space features information panels and videos of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beast series. Guests can also take commemorative photos at themed photo spots. The exhibition is located at The 3rd-floor atrium of the Shin-Marunouchi Building.
