Hong Kong Disneyland is in the middle of transforming their Sleeping Beauty Castle into a new castle unique to the Park. Originally, the current version is the same as the one in California. It’s set to complete sometime in 2019 or 2020 (there’s no official word yet). I’ve shared my thoughts on the new design in a earlier post.
This is a quick update on the construction of the castle at Hong Kong Disneyland.
From a guest perspective, not much as changed visually since the last update in the spring. Sleeping Beauty Castle is still visible from over the walls surrounding it. The castle is still not covered, but once the transformation of the outside of the castle begins, expect it to become covered up. I don’t know when that will be, however.
You can see machinery poking above the walls and the sounds of construction. The walls have cute designs and on the right side towards Fantasyland are portholes where you can see concept art of the new castle design.
Since not much has changed since the spring (from a guest perspective) here are a few photos taken in August 2018.
The Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! attraction is still under construction (opening in 2019). Again, not much of a visual change since the spring.
Construction on the Frozen-themed area of the park seems to have started. If you ride the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop attraction in Toy Story Land, you’ll be able to see buildings and construction behind Toy Story Land and Fantasyland (the walkway between the two area). I didn’t take any photos while on the attraction.
