Japan Airlines (JAL) have partnered with Universal Studios Japan to launch a special Universal Studios “NO LIMIT!” themed jet featuring popular characters found at the theme park.
JAL x Universal Studios Japan Jet
From January 11, 2022, passengers travelling domestically with Japan Airlines will have the opportunity to fly on the special Universal Studios “NO LIMIT!” themed jet. The specially coated jet features images of popular characters including The Minions, Sesame Street, Jaws, Super Mario, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter.
The jet (aircraft number JA252J), is scheduled to service the E190 aircraft service routes, with specific routes and flight numbers to be announced on the JAL website the evening before the day of the flight. The first flight for the aircraft took place on January 11, 2022 (Tuesday) JAL2207 flight From Osaka (Itami) 12:50 – Arrival in Sendai 14:00. The collaboration jet will continue to operate until around March 2023.
Japan Airlines has been the official airline of Universal Studios Japan since 2015, with the airline being the sponsor for the Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride at the park. The companies previously collaborated on two Minion themed jets in 2017 and 2019 to promote the ride.
Many of the characters featured on the jet appeared in person at the aircraft’s inauguration ceremony on January 11th 2022 at the JAL Engineering Osaka Aircraft Maintenance Center.
From February 1, 2022 guests onboard the themed jet will notice themed inflight products, including paper cups and headrest covers featuring images of their favourite USJ characters.
Guests will also receive a special boarding certificate sticker to commemorate their flight.
