Sanrio has just opened a brand new official store in Shinjuku, where the very first Sanrio shop was located. Visitors to the refreshed store will find a 180 cm mosaic Hello Kitty monument at the entrance, and a wide range of products such as plush toys, stationary, accessories, and more.
Shoppers can find the new store on the 1st floor of Kinokuniya Shinjuku Main Store. The new store stands where the original Sanrio store was located for 50 years, from 1971 to 2022. Additionally, the new 180 cm mosaic Hello Kitty statue was inspired by a similar monument that adorned the old store in 2008 until the store closed to be reimagined.
In commemoration of the opening, for each purchase of ¥2,200 or more, people will receive a Sanrio Shinjuku one of six original design Sanrio BIG stickers on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 200 people to purchase ¥12,000 will receive a complete set with all 6 types of stickers
Until April 10th (Monday), in conjunction with the Pompompurin promotion at the east exit of Shinjuku Station, the Sanrio Shinjuku store will be decorated with Pompompurin’s cute footprints.
