Disney Store Japan is gearing up for New Year festivities with an extensive lineup of limited-time merchandise. This year’s collection features a variety of items showcasing Mickey Mouse and Friends creatively reimagined in the traditional Japanese Daruma style.
The range includes handmade Mickey & Friends Daruma in collaboration with Shirakawa Daruma Sohonpo, a 300-year-old maker of Shirakawa Daruma, a traditional handicraft located in Shirakawa, Fukushima Prefecture. Other items include plush toys of Mickey and Minnie in traditional kimono and zori sandals, decorative Kadomatsu and Shimekazari, and handy towels and bags.
Darumas symbolize good fortune and resilience. In Japanese tradition, their blank eyes are meant for setting goals: you fill in one upon setting a goal and complete the other once it’s achieved. Even without blank eyes, these Darumas make for wonderful keepsakes!
The collection will be available at Flagship Tokyo and Tokyo Disney Resort Store (Ikspiari) on November 28th, followed by Disney Stores nationwide from December 1, 2023.
