New York Deli Review
3 min read
New York Deli is a delicious counter service restaurant in the American Waterfront at Tokyo DisneySea. As the name indicates, they specialize in Deli sandwiches. Their signature sandwich is the Mile High Deli Sandwich (or Mile High Deli Sando in Japanese). An average meal will cost you just under ¥1000, although that is not including adding a delicious alcoholic beverage to your meal. Here’s our review of this beautifully themed restaurant at Tokyo DisneySea.
Atmosphere & Decor
While racing for your FastPass to Toy Story Mania!, it is easy to miss this restaurant as it blends perfectly with the theming of the American Waterfront. You almost have to do a double take to convince yourself that it is indeed a restaurant.
The entrance to the restaurant is covered in beautifully weathered brick and feels as if you are stepping into a small warehouse. This is where you order your food and a nice food display is setup to give you an idea of what you’ll be eating. Staying true to most restaurants in the park, the large space of the restaurant is divided in to a number of dining areas, each with a unique theme. On the left side is a tailor shop with suits and hats decorating the walls. Another showcases different costumes (this is where the washrooms are located). On the right side you have an open air art studio with unfinished paintings, benches, and paint cans littered about the room. The last room is a mixture of an exquisite dining area next to the Deli. Finally there is a patio where you can enjoy your sandwich while watching people scramble for Toy Story Mania!
As with many of the restaurants in the park, the theming is spot on and is worth walking through even if you do not plan on eating there. But, we do highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat.
Eats
The sandwiches served here do not rock the boat in terms of ingredients and taste. This is a good thing if you are looking for something familiar, but a step up from burgers and fries. The most notable sandwich is the Mile High Deli Sandwich which includes:
- Roast Beef
- Roast Chicken
- Cheese
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Sauerkraut Sauce
By far this is the best choice and is a decent portion size for price. Since it is so high, eating it can prove challenging without getting it all over the plate. But that is OK, because the deliciousness outweighs everything. The other sandwiches are of smaller portions, which is perfect for a light snack or if you are not a big eater.
- Shrimp and Salmon Trout Bagel
- Turkey Pastrami Panini
- Ruben Hot Sandwich
This is one of a few locations where you are able to buy the Little Green Alien Mochi along with a cute souvenir case. Since Tokyo DisneySea serves alcohol, they offer a small choice of alcoholic beverages as well. Notably in the winter, this place serves Hot White Wine, which is highly recommended to keep you warm in more ways than one! If you happen to buy beer, they give you a token in which you then exchange for a beverage at a different counter near the dining area on the left.
Overall the sandwiches are a safe bet if you are not feeling too adventurous in your cuisine. They are delicious and won’t leave you disappointed.

Verdict
Looking for something that is better than the burgers and fries at Cape Cod Cook-Off? Want to have a bite to eat despite being not overly hungry? New York Deli is an excellent option. The food is great, albeit a bit small on portion size, and the atmosphere makes you not want to leave. After you get those golden FastPasses for Toy Story Mania!, head on over and re-energzie with a delicious deli sandwich.
