Fans of the beloved anime series One Piece can soon embark on an adventure with Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as JR West unveils a specially designed One Piece Shinkansen on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, set to launch in spring 2025.
The special One Piece Shinkansen will consist of eight 700-series cars, with three sets scheduled for phased introduction. The first train, known as Setouchi Blue will debut in Spring 2025 and feature a vibrant blue design inspired by the Setouchi Sea that the Shinkansen route runs parallel to.
The bright blue train is wrapped in a decal that features One Piece characters including Luffy and the Straw Hat crew, a logo that shows a blue Bullet Train bursting out of the One Piece logo. The special train will feature themed interiors including pirate-themed seating and decorations. Additionally, stations along the Sanyo Shinkansen line will feature themed content and exclusive merchandise.
The One Piece Shinkansen will travel the Sanyo Shinkansen line along the Setouchi Sea along the southern coast of Japan’s main island of Honshu. The line connects Shin Osaka Station in Osaka City with Hakata Station in Fukuoka City with 17 stations in between, including Kobe, Himeji, Hiroshima, and Iwakuni. Details including the start date and timetable will be announced at a future date.
