Photos and Video of the 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake at DisneySea
A powerful earthquake hit the remote islands in Japan, which was felt throughout the entire country, on the evening of May 30th, 2015. This is the third earthquake to have hit this week in Japan.
We were in Tokyo DisneySea when the earthquake hit. In particular, waiting to board the Journey to the Center of the Earth Attraction. Cast Members informed us to sit on the ground and put our hands over our heads. The shaking lasted for about 4-5 minutes. Once it was safe, we were evacuated from the attraction. At which point we were given a “re-admittance” FastPass to come back to the attraction if it re-opened.
Attractions and restaurants were closed and many guests left the park. Trains leaving Maihama station were delayed and/or suspended causing huge congestion.
Our party stayed in the park and waited for the crowd to thin out. We have video footage of the earthquake and photos.

Cast Member gave us a return FastPass for our party. Probably won’t be using it. Rides aren’t gonna resume, I think. pic.twitter.com/gjESlKeXHX

Oh no – glad you and your party are ok. I’m glad the cast members did a great job of managing things and keeping people as calm as possible. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and so we think about quakes a lot here too ; (
Thank you! The Cast Members did an excellent job at instructing us on what to do and keeping calm. Made us feel much safer, even though there is nothing they can do.
