Pokémon trainers sometimes need a relaxing break too! A brand-new Pokémon attraction has opened in Ishikawa Prefecture, bringing a little extra charm to the recovering hot spring town of Wakura Onsen. The new Wakura Pokémon Footbath officially opened on May 12th, 2026, inside Yuttari Park in Nanao City.

Developed through a collaboration between the Pokémon With You Foundation and Nanao City, the Wakura Pokémon Footbath facility transforms a relaxing onsen stop into a fun Pokémon-themed destination for visitors of all ages. The newly renovated footbath promises to be a must-visit location for wearing travellers looking to rest their feet after a day of exploring all that Nanao City has to offer.

Officials hope the new Pokémon-themed footbath will help attract tourists back to the area and support the ongoing revitalisation of Wakura Onsen following the devastating 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which caused widespread damage across the region and forced many businesses and inns to temporarily close.

The footbath features decorations and artwork inspired by Pokémon found throughout the area’s growing collection of Poké Lid manhole covers, including Gyarados, Poliwag, and Politoad. The Pokémon-themed touches connect the new attraction with Nanao City’s existing Pokémon tourism initiatives, giving fans another reason to visit the region.

The Wakura Pokémon Footbath is free of charge and open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., although operations may pause during poor weather conditions. Parking is also available nearby for visitors driving to the attraction.
