Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival Attraction at Tokyo DisneySea

Tokyo Disney Resort has released first look photos of the dazzling new Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival attraction and surrounding area at Fantasy Springs, which is scheduled to open on June 6, 2024.

Representing the most significant expansion ever at Tokyo Disney Resort, Fantasy Springs will immerse guests in the worlds of Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan and will feature four state-of-the-art attractions, shopping, dining experiences, and the luxurious park-integrated Fantasy Springs hotel.

Located within Rapunzel’s Forest, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival is a romantic boat trip to the annual Lantern Festival as featured in the 2010 film. During the 5-minute water ride, guests will encounter Rapunzel and the legendary thief, Flynn Rider, and see their love blossom at the Lantern Festival.

Your journey starts in the exterior queue of Rapunzel’s forest with it’s beautiful lanterns and purple and gold bunting featuring the magical Sundrop Flower which gives Rapunzel’s hair it’s healing glow.

In the evening, the entire forest is illuminated by magical lanterns from the festival lining the pathways, gentle glowing lights in the restaurant, boathouse windows, and Rupunzel’s tower in the distance.

Guests will then enter the boat house which is decorated with ‘wanted’ signs of Flynn Rider and fiends from the Snuggly Duckling alongside posters advertising the Lantern Festival. The Sundrop Flower and lantern motif carries into the highly decorated interior queue.

As guests start their journey to the Lantern Festival they will encounter Rapunzel singing “When Will My Life Begin” from the window of her tower as Flynn Rider, Maximus, and Pascal watch on.

Guests will then follow Rapunzel and Flynn Rider through the forest, where we Rapunzel having the best day ever, swinging from trees using her luscious golden locks as Flynn leans up against a tree.

Guests will drift through the leafy forest, past familiar locations from the film including The Snuggly Duckling pub that hosts many of Corona’s ruffians and thieves who use the location as a hangout.

We then find Rapunzel healing Flynn Rider’s hand with her illuminated long hair, using the healing incantation. The pair are brought to life with animatronics that are amazingly faithful to the character designs featured in the 2010 computer-animated film.

Guests will leave the forest and make their way towards the castle, with lanterns floating into the sky.

The highlight of the ride is the enchanting Lantern Festival scene, featuring Flynn Rider and Rapunzel singing “At Last I see The Light” in a row boat surrounded by hundreds of illuminated lanterns.

As your romantic journey through the Lantern Festival comes to an end, guests will return to the boat house, with patrons of The Snuggly Duckling looking on emotionally.
