During a recent visit to Shanghai Disneyland, we made a stop to check on construction progress for the world’s first Spider-Man roller coaster. The attraction will see guests teaming up with Spider-Man in a high-stakes adventure that quickly spirals into a precarious situation for both hero and riders alike.
Located next to Zootopia, the Spider-Man land will become the ninth themed land at Shanghai Disneyland and the park’s first major Marvel offering. Construction of the Spider-Man land officially began in May 2025, with construction going vertical in September 2025.
It’s difficult to not notice the epic coaster from Zootopia, with the attraction’s Spider-man inspired bold red and white tracks. While Shanghai Disney Resort has yet to announced the ride’s name, a large beam features a “Web Launcher” graphic – perhaps this will be the attraction’s name? Time will tell!
Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts – now Disney CEO, Josh D’Amaro announced the new attraction at Disney’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California on August 10th, 2024.
The new land will be located adjacent to Zootopia. The immersive area will be home to the Shanghai Disneyland’s first-ever Marvel attraction – a high a high-energy thrill coaster featuring Spider-Man himself, alongside themed shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings.
