The whimsical Ghibli Park has unveiled a major update to its popular Becoming Characters in Memorable Ghibli Scenes Exhibition in Ghibli Park’s Grand Warehouse, with half of the 14 exhibits completely refreshed. The renewed exhibit debuted on December 17th, offering guests the chance to step into more of their favourite Studio Ghibli films.
The exhibition, which opened alongside the park in November 2022, allows visitors to step into life-sized recreations of iconic Studio Ghibli scenes, designed to create dynamic photo opportunities. This first renovation swaps out seven exhibits with new scenes from both classic and lesser-seen works.
Among the new exhibits:
- How Do You Live? – Step in as Mahito and immerse yourself in the scene with him and Himi facing their great-uncle.
- Ghiblies Episode 2 – Relive the scene at Curry Shop Toshi-chan, with characters flattened in a unique 2D-3D style that perfectly captures the original animation.
- Porco Rosso – Become Piccolo in the engine test-driving scene.
- On Your Mark and My Neighbours the Yamadas – Also newly added for this refresh.
Meanwhile, three existing exhibits have been updated to feature new famous scenes: Only Yesterday, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, and Porco Rosso. Guests will also be able to enjoy exhibits from the original lineup, including Castle in the Sky, Pom Poko, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Tales from Earthsea, Ponyo on the Cliff, and From Up on Poppy Hill.
