Studio Ghibli and Toshio Suzuki Exhibition

A Studio Ghibli exhibition is coming to Tokyo this summer to showcase iconic Ghibli films and long-time Ghibli collaborator, Toshio Suzuki. The exhibition, which will run from July 1st to September 7th, 2022, is set to feature various projects from Suzuki’s career, as well as must-see exhibits for Studio Ghibli fans.

The exhibition, which was originally held in Kanda Myojin Shrine in Tokyo in 2019, will return with more exhibits and expanded offerings. The Toshio Suzuki-centric exhibit will reflect on his life from childhood to the present through movies and over 8,000 books and manga that shaped Suzuki’s long career.

The exhibition will also include a reproduction of the four-and-a-half tatami mat room where Toshio Suzuki spent his boyhood, transporting guests back in time to 1950s Japan. Other sections of the exhibition will focus on Suzuki’s career as a long-time producer and creative at Studio Ghibli.

Fans of the award-winning Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し) will be excited to explore a large-scale recreation of the bathhouse “Aburaya” that appeared in the film. For an additional charge, guests can rest their feet in chilled footbaths at the bathhouse and receive a themed souvenir towel.
