Super Nintendo World Character Greetings
Mama Mia! Super Nintendo World is opening soon, and we have all the details you’ll need on the brand new character greetings in the land! Making their theme park debut, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad are all ready to greet their fans!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, character greetings are currently held with social distancing. You’re allowed to stand next to or near the character to take pictures, but you cannot touch them. This is quite disappointing, as Toad looks so squishy, and I just wanted to give him a big hug!
Also, Mario, Luigi, and Peach talk to guests in English. However it’s a little difficult to hear them due to the land’s music, so try to listen very carefully!

Are you ready? Lets-a-go!
Mario & Luigi
After spending a long day saving the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and Luigi are ready to meet their fans! The beautiful background is perfect for pictures, so you won’t want to miss it! And while it may be hard to hear, the characters can speak English during their meet and greet.
If you bought a Power Up Band, don’t forget to hit the brick and “? blocks” on your way out! Also, you will collect stamps on the USJ app for meeting Mario and Luigi. However, you may have to go visit to get both stamps!

Her Majesty Princess Peach cordially invites all her loyal subjects to a royal meet and greet at the pavilion outside her castle. What a delight!
That’s right, THE Princess Peach is outside greeting her fans, and she even talks to guests in English! Peach looks absolutely stunning in her pink dress, and fans of the princess won’t want to miss a chance to meet her!

Toad
Toad is usually cooking up a storm at Kinopio’s Cafe, but you can also see him wandering around Super Nintendo World! He is definitely the shortest of the characters, but also the cutest!
At this time, you are not allowed to stand next to Toad to take pictures together. However, you are allowed to stand in front of him, and he’ll pose for a selfie!
- LOOK AT HIM!!!
- HE’S SO SQUISHY!!!!!
How to Buy Your Photos
When you take a photo with Mario and Luigi or Princess Peach, a cast member will hand you a red card with a QR code on it. Use this card to store photos with these characters, and also for a ride photo on Yoshi’s Adventure.
Once you have all the photos you want, head over to the photo stand across from the Mario and Luigi character greeting. There, you can choose which photos you’d like to purchase. You can print two or three photos depending on which frame you choose.
After you purchase your photos, you can scan the QR code on the back of the red card with your phone. This will lead to a website where you can download a copy of one of the photos.

Book Your Flight
I use Google Flights & Momodo to find affordable flights. Another great way is to sign up for Scott’s Cheap Flights to get notifications of cheap fares, which happens often in Japan. You’ll sometimes stumble on cheap flights to Kansai International Airport.
Buy Your Shinkansen Tickets (Bullet Train)
Getting around Japan by the world-renown bullet train, known as the Shinkansen, is incredibly fast, reliable, and affordable for visitors. You can travel from Tokyo to Osaka in just over 2 hours. Get the JR Rail Pass to save a ton of money on the bullet train for your trip.
Book Your Hotel
Universal Studios Japan has affordable accommodations that are steps away from the Park with easy access to Osaka. I recommend checking prices through Booking.com followed by the hotels directly. Sometimes you’re able to score some incredible deals. Here’s a short list of hotels at Universal Studios Japan I recommend.
- The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan – You’re directly in front of the Park gates and have instant access to Universal CityWalk Osaka. The rooms are gorgeous, with restaurants and even a Lawson (Japanese convenience store).
- The Singulari HOTEL & SKYSPA – Attached to the train station is a fantastic hotel for those who want a comfortable, clean, and stylish place to sleep. After a long day at Universal Studios Japan, the rooftop sento (public bath) is excellent for unwinding and relaxing.
- Hotel Universal Port – This is an excellent hotel for the Minion fan in your family, only a 5-minute walk from Universal Studios Japan. It also boasts the largest breakfast buffet in Japan, a must during your visit.
Buy Your Tickets & Express Pass
In advance, save time and stress by buying your tickets and Express Pass for Universal Studios Japan.
Stay Connected
Universal Studios Japan only offers free Wi-Fi at the entrance to the Park. That’s not enough to stay connected and share your day with everyone back home to give them FOMO on Instagram. Here’s how you can stay connected while travelling in Japan.
- Pocket Wi-Fi – If you’re travelling with a group or have multiple devices, this is your best and most affordable way to stay connected to the internet. Pick up and drop off at the airport. Easy.
- Japan SIM Card – If you have an unlocked phone and need a Japanese phone number, this is the best and easiest way.
Get Yourself Travel Insurance
While travelling aboard, having travel insurance protects you against injury, cancellations, illness, and other things you can never predict. Whenever I travel, I always budget for travel insurance to protect myself. I’ve used it, and I’m so glad I had it. My recommended companies are SafteyWing and World Nomads for travel insurance.
