    Tokyo Disneyland Reopening Day: How Was It?

    Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea reopened after 122 days of being closed. The longest closure in the resort’s history. After fighting with the reservation system to buy park tickets, I was able to secure a ticket for Tokyo Disneyland on July 1, 2020. The park’s official reopening date. The park works differently now, for the time being. I’ll share my experience with you on the reopening day of Tokyo Disneyland.     It’s no secret that 2020 has been a complete write-off. The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has thrown this entire year off its axis. I realize that many Explorers had their hearts set on travelling to Japan in 2020. I even wrote an article that didn’t age well, at all. With all the travel bans, pushed back openings, and a general sense of unknowing. I don’t think you should be travelling to Japan this year. Wait until 2021. Even with things reopening in Japan, it pains me to say it, but you really need to wait. Here’s why.

    Tokyo Disneyland Reopening on July 1, 2020

    Tokyo Disney Resort has announced that both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will reopen on July 1, 2020, after temporarily closing on February 29, 2020. Its shopping complex, Ikspiari, reopened on June 1, 2020. The parks are to have a reduced capacity of about 15,000 guests and will require a reservation to visit. Tokyo Disney Resort is the final Disney Resort in Asia to reopen after the closures. Both Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland reopened on May 11 and June 18, 2020, respectively.     Tokyo Disneyland Closure Extended Due to Coronavirus

    UPDATED: June 23, 2020 Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea are reopening on July 1, 2020. In response to the coronavirus outbreak, Tokyo Disney Resort has announced on June 1 that the closures of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have been extended, again. This comes after the reopening of their shopping complex, Ikspiari, on the same day. That means we don’t know when Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea are reopening.     Universal Studios Japan Extends Closure into June 2020

    Updated: May 26, 2020 Universal Studios Japan has extended its closure from the end of May until June 7, 2020. The website states park tickets are suspended until June 7. A reopening date hasn’t been decided yet, but more information will come later. Japan has fully lifted its state of emergency in all prefectures. We’d expect plans are underway to begin reopening at some point soon. Universal Studios Japan has been closed since late February due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Tokyo Disney Resort similarly remains closed.

    How Shanghai Disneyland is Handling Social Distancing

    Shanghai Disneyland reopened on May 11, 2020, after closing on January 25, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The park is operating with limited capacity (seems similar to the grand opening in 2016). Our wonderful Shanghai Explorer @dischapoppy experienced the Park on the first day of reopening.
