What’s Happening at Tokyo Disney Resort for May 2017
Golden Week is over, Easter is in full bloom, and a brand new attraction opens up at Tokyo DisneySea! I tell you what’s happening this month at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea for May 2017. Including our monthly videos on YouTube which go over the “Today Guides” for both parks.
If you’re visiting this month, I am glad to report that this is the best month to do so. The weather is comfortable and the crowds are lower.
Today Guides
The Today Guides are perfect for your day at either park. They both highlight their offerings for Disney’s Easter 2017 which includes the latest merchandise, food, and entertainment at Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea. They also make a fantastic free souvenir.
Pick these up at the turnstiles when you enter the park. Pair this with the English guide (and watching our videos below) and you’ll be more than ready to tackle the merchandise, entertainment, and seasonal food! Also, don’t forget to look for the hidden Mickey on them ?.
Tokyo Disneyland
The Usatama are still wreaking havoc around the park and causing mischief in the “Usatama on the Run!” parade. There are a number of new items including Beauty and the Beast and sun-protection goods (I cover this in the video below).
As for closures and refurbishments,:
- “it’s a small world”
- Space Mountain: May 8 – July 2, 2017
- Castle Carrousel: May 8 – August 18, 2017
- Planet M (Shop): May 23 – July 6, 2017
- Pan Galactic Pizza Port: May 10 – June 8, 2017
Still, no word if the sold out Usatama plush keychains or Tamagotchi are coming back in stock. The 34th Anniversary items are still available in the parks.
Tokyo DisneySea
The biggest news this month is the opening of Nemo & Friends SeaRider (May 12, 2017) in Port Discovery! We have tons of photos in our full review and soft opening preview post too. To celebrate there is a large number of goods available, delicious looking snacks, and a Nemo Popcorn bucket!
Disney’s Easter is still happening at the park, so you can take in all the delicious snacks, merchandise, and entertainment. There’s also a number of new goods available at the park, which I highlight in our video below.
As for closures and refurbishments this month:
- Out of Shadowland: May 9 – May 15, 2017
- Liberty Landing Diner: May 29 – June 7, 2017
What is the Today Guide?
The “Today Guide” is a useful fold-out informational guide for the latest entertainment, merchandise, food, and general information for both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Which changes on a monthly basis with new and updated information (and a cute collectible design). The only problem is, it’s offered only in Japanese.
There is an English guide map (along with other languages) but it only has general information and entertainment schedule. You miss out on some critical information that’s useful when you are in the park. That’s why we are creating these monthly features to help you better plan your trip!
