Beauty and the Beast, Minnie’s Style Studio, & Baymax Construction Update (July 2020)

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea reopened on July 1, 2020, after being closed for months. Due to these closures, the opening of the expansion at Tokyo Disneyland has been delayed for the time being. Meaning, we don’t know when it’ll open. Originally, it was scheduled for April 15, 2020, but that didn’t happen.

This expansion includes the highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast area with the trackless dark ride “Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast” and a brand new theatre “Fantasyland Forest Theatre” in Fantasyland. Then the new character greeting facility for Minnie Mouse called “Minnie’s Style Studio,” followed by a brand new Baymax attraction in Tomorrowland named “The Happy Ride with Baymax.”

On my first day back at Tokyo Disneyland, I spent too much time taking photos of what’s visible from within the Park. Let me tell you, it’s gorgeous. I won’t explain too much about these attractions as we’ve written about it many times over. So if you’re curious about what these are, please go check that out.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

Minnie’s Style Studio

I’m happy that Minnie Mouse is getting her own dedicated Meet and Greet facility. This is at the entrance to Toontown, which is beside the new Beauty and the Beast area.

Baymax & the Hairy Baby

Not only is Baymax getting his own attraction (it’s the same ride system as Aliens Swirling Saucers in the Magic Kingdom), but there’s a dedicated Popcorn shop and a Hairy Baby!

There’s also cat vending machines that are below where Mochi is sleeping. While we can see them yet the tops of them look like cats in Baymax-style armor.

Beauty and the Beast

A tale as old as time …

Let me tell you, this looks absolutely gorgeous in person. Maurice’s House looks alive as if someone is living there (it’s actually where the FastPasses are distributed). Let that sink in for a moment, this is a building for FastPasses and it’s themed to the nines.

In the distance, you’ll see the Beast’s Castle, which is stunning in the evening (that’s not surprising). The new theatre is way in the back, so we aren’t able to see much at the moment.

Maurice’s House

Yes, this is for FastPasses.

Are You Excited?

Are you looking forward to an opening date? Let me know in the comments! I have no idea when that’ll be. It’s hard to say about the situation in Japan at the moment. We’ll have to wait and see.
