10 Most Asked Questions About Tokyo Disney Resort

There’s a lot to learn about Tokyo Disney Resort, and that’s one of the reasons why we created our Ultimate Guide to Tokyo Disney Resort. Over the course of this blog’s existence, I took note of the most asked questions.

Before sending us an email (we love getting an email from you all) or leaving a question on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, have a read and see if your question isn’t answered here first! If not, feel free to drop us a line anytime.

  1. How many days?

  4. Will I have problems not speaking Japanese?
  5. What are the best/unique attractions?

  10. Can I buy Tokyo Disney Resort merchandise online?

How many days?

The ideal time is 4 days to enjoy both parks. But it is doable in less. Our full guide gives you all the details you need to make the best decision based on your itinerary.

When should I visit?

The best time to visit is in May (after Golden Week) and the worst is almost any weekend, public holiday, Golden Week, New Year’s, and March. Our full guide has all the details, including our recommendation for a crowd calendar.

Can I split my visit across multiple days on a multi-day park ticket?

No. You have to use your park ticket in consecutive days. Read our complete park tickets guide for more details. Buy your tickets now through Klook and save yourself time and hassle at the ticket gets. Use our offer code KLKTDREX to save $4USD off your first purchase.

Will I have problems not speaking Japanese?

You can enjoy your time at the parks with no Japanese ability. Note, however, that most shows are only in Japanese. All restaurants have English menus (and you can point if needed). Cast Members’ English ability is hit or miss. But if you do have issues, you can find a Cast Member who will speak English (front desk hotel staff will).

You can ask for “story cards” at Guest Relations at either park to get English explanations. Read our Japanese Language guides for simple phrases, easy words to memorize, and phrases to order food.

What are the best/unique attractions?

Both parks have unique and familiar attractions. Read our attractions and FastPass guides for both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, which gives you our recommendation for the best attractions and strategies for FastPasses.

What should I wear?

This depends on the time of the year. The summers are hot and humid, while the winters are cold and windy. We have guides for both summer and winter, which tell you what to wear. Also, our packing guide gives a general list of what to bring with you to the parks at any time of the year.

Where should I stay?

Tokyo Disney Resort has 4 Disney Hotels:  Hotel MiraCosta, Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel, and Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. If that is outside your budget, there are a number of Official Hotels in the area (I recommend the Hilton Tokyo Bay or Sheraton Grande). Learn how to book a Disney Hotel and read our complete hotel guide for more details.

What are the best places to eat?

Both parks have a variety of food options, from snacks to character buffets. We have a large choice of guides to help you decide what’s best for you:

Our growing list of restaurant reviews and complete dining guide are another excellent resource for your planning.

Can I use my credit card and/or debit card?

Most major credit cards are accepted at Tokyo Disney Resort. They do not accept debit cards of any kind from overseas. There is a 7-11 ATM in Ikspiari where you are able to pull out money with your debit card, however. It’s best to keep cash on hand. We have a guide that goes into more detail.

If you’re having issues booking a hotel read our guide on how to make a reservation.

Can I buy Tokyo Disney Resort Merchandise Online?

Unless you live in Japan, you’ll have to rely on personal shoppers, eBay, or Amazon Japan to buy your Tokyo Disneyland merchandise online. For those that do live in Japan, you can order through the official Tokyo Disney Resort app (you need a valid day ticket to shop online). If you are in Japan and searching for past merchandise, I recommend visiting Nakano Broadway.
