A new Wreck-It Ralph attraction is coming to Tokyo Disneyland as part of a major transformation of Tomorrowland, alongside the all-new Space Mountain Earthrise. Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue is set to open in Spring 2027, bringing the colourful world of the Wreck-It Ralph films to the park for the first time.

Inside the attraction, guests will join Ralph and Vanellope as they attempt to save Sugar Rush from the “Sugar Bugs”, glitches created by King Candy that are threatening to destroy the game. Guests will work to restore the Sugar Bugs to their original cute candy forms, including gummies and cupcakes, as they explore the colourful game world.

Tokyo Disney Resort has previously released concept art of the ride experience, featuring guests aboard omnimover ride vehicles equipped with laser guns as they zap away the Sugar Bugs. Additional renderings have also been released of the attraction entrance and the revitalised Tomorrowland Plaza, which is being transformed as part of the wider redevelopment.

Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will replace Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, which closed in October 2024. The interactive attraction is designed for both children and adults, using new technology being introduced for the first time at Tokyo Disney Resort to allow guests to actively participate in the story. Guests attending the D23 Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase were treated to behind-the-scenes footage of construction of the attraction, including a look at the omni-mover ride vehicles.

A new merchandise shop called Pixel Prism will open next to Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue. Located adjacent to ‘Planet M,’ the futuristic Wreck It Ralph shop will sell a range of merchandise inspired by the new attraction and its characters.

A new popcorn stand, Popping Station, will also open near Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, overlooking Tomorrowland Plaza. It will replace the former Popping Pod popcorn wagon, which closed in November 2024.

So it’s basically Astro blasters but with the Wreck it Ralph overlay. I’m sure it’ll be cute and have massive lines when it first opens but it’s not exactly innovative.
