Tokyo DisneySea celebrated its 15th anniversary on September 4, 2016. A “surprise” ceremony and special one-time greeting was held at the park in the morning.

Mickey and friends greeted guests at the front of the park in their 15th-anniversary outfits and posed for photos. Followed by a special ceremony in the Mediterranean Harbor with words from Oriental Land Company’s President, COO Kyoichiro Uenishi and Chairman, CEO Toshio Kagami. Followed by Bill Ernest, the president and managing director for Walt Disney Park Resorts in Asia.

The “Year of Wishes” celebration happens until March 2017 at Tokyo DisneySea. If you’re headed to the park, don’t forget to read our full guide to get the most of your time in this beautiful park.

While the performance itself was not as grand as I hoped, it was still pleasant to hear the COO and CEO of OLC speak to Tokyo Disney Resort. Before the performance, a number of songs from past shows played over the speakers, which was a fantastic touch. Some included:

• Come with Me
• Legend of Mythica (One of the best Disney shows in the history of shows)
• Sea of Dreams
• Be Magical

Minutes before the performance it began to rain, but then stopped just as fast as it began. Cast Members scrambled to dry the stage off. The ceremony was only delayed by a few minutes.
