List of Major Tourist Attraction Closures in Japan

In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the coronavirus, multiple tourist attractions have announced temporary closures throughout Japan.

The following is a list of the closing dates for many of these attractions. Please note that the closing dates may change at any time, so make sure to check with the official websites for more details.

  • J.League Soccer – All matches between February 28 to May 31, 2020 will be postponed.
  • Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival – Cancelled
  • Nipponbashi Cosplay Street Festa – Cancelled
  • Sumida River Fireworks Festival (July 11, 2020) – Cancelled
  • Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show (August 2020) – Cancelled
  • Sendai Tanabata Festival (August 2020) – Cancelled
  • Aomori Nebuta Festival (August 2020) – Cancelled
