Universal Studios Japan is set to host its biggest New Year’s celebration yet with “NO LIMIT! Countdown to 2025.” The event promises 26 hours of unlimited rides, limited-time entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks presentation to help park guests ring in the new year in style.
“NO LIMIT! Countdown 2025” at Universal Studios Japan starts at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2023, until 9 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2025.
Countdown Special Stage
Gramercy Park will host “Countdown Special Stage“, a five-hour-long special performance that will see the return of limited-time entertainment offerings and characters featured at Universal Studios Japan throughout 2024. Highlights include My Melody and Kuromi, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates from the summer “One Piece Premier Show” and Hamikuma Shout It Out Party from “Halloween Horror Nights.” The exciting special show will be presented from 7:10 pm until 12:15 am on New Year’s Day.
New Year’s Eve Countdown
As the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, over 4,000 spectacular fireworks will light up the sky in the “Countdown Moment.” The festivities will be held at Gramercy Park and Lagoon, immersing guests in a magical celebration from 11:50 p.m. to 12:05 a.m.
26 hours of Unlimited Rides
From 7 p.m. on December 31st, until the park closes on January 1st, guests can enjoy unlimited rides on attractions at the park, including Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge in Super Nintendo World, Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Flying Dinosaur. Fans of Demon Slayer can enjoy the limited-time Kimetsu no Yaiba XR Ride, while Detective Conan enthusiasts can experience the 4-D Live Show.
Super Nintendo World will be closed for maintenance from 2:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. A numbered ticket is required to enter Super Nintendo World. Numbered tickets for area admission or lottery tickets can only be issued once between 7 pm on December 31, 2024, and 9 pm on January 1, 2025.
VIP Luxury Tour – Limited to One Group
Universal Studios Japan is offering an ultra-exclusive Super Luxurious VIP Tour for ¥1 million ($7007.95 USD). Limited to one group, the package includes private transportation from Kansai’s airports or major Osaka train stations, VIP access to the countdown event, and a private dinner at Luminant VIP Private Lounge and Dining followed by fireworks from a private balcony and stay in a suite at the Park Front Hotel, complete with a personal guide.
Ticket Information
NO LIMIT! Countdown 2024 is a hard-ticketed event and is not included with general park admission.
Tickets for “Party Pass” start at ¥15,400 and will be sold via a ticket lottery system from Friday, October 4th, with a second lottery opening on October 19th, followed by a general sale from November 14th.
Special add-ons including reserved viewing for Countdown Special Stage and Universal Express Passes will also be available to enhance your experience. For more details, please see the Universal Studios Japan official website.

*The park will be closed from 17:00 to 19:00 on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
*Those with a Studio Pass (including annual passes) valid through January 1, 2025 (Wednesday) can enter from 2:00 on January 1, 2025 (Wednesday).
* Party Pass holders can enter and exit the park as many times as they like from 19:00 on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, to 21:00 on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 (park closing time).

Universal Studios Japan has affordable accommodations that are steps away from the park and have easy access to Osaka. I recommend checking prices through Booking.com followed by the hotels directly. Sometimes, you’re able to score some incredible deals. Here’s a short list of hotels at Universal Studios Japan I recommend.
- The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan – You’re directly in front of the Park gates and have instant access to Universal CityWalk Osaka. The rooms are gorgeous, with restaurants and even a Lawson (Japanese convenience store).

Hi! Do you suggest going to USJ on Jan 1 , 2, or 3? Given it’s new years, will it be quieter or busier on Jan 1?
The first week is one of the busier times of the year due to holidays.
I understand that but unfortunately that’s when we’ll be there. Out of the 3 days, what do you think is the best option? Thanks for the help
