Universal Studios Japan open after earthquake in Osaka region

Hours after a major earthquake in the Osaka region, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has opened for the day.

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit the region on Monday morning just before 8:00am local time in northern Osaka.

Shinkansen bullet train service had been halted after the quake. Airport operations in the Kansai region had stopped after the earthquake but have since resumed.

There has been no tsunami warning issued.

An image widely-circulated on Twitter shows some damage to a ticket booth at the park.  However, USJ is open for the day.

Wait time apps show a number of rides are experiencing longer waits while others have yet to start up.

Among the attractions currently operating are Harry Potter, Flight of the Hippogriff, Final Fantasy, Spider-Man, and attractions in Universal Wonderland.
