Universal Studios Japan Summer Merchandise, Entertainment, & Snacks
Universal Studios Japan has announced a new parade will be held from July 23 to August 27, 2020, called “Summer Parade – We Are One”. In past summer parades, many water effects were used, but these won’t be used this year in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In addition, the parade will not be making any stops so that guests won’t crowd around the parade route.
Along with the parade, there will be new food and merchandise on sale throughout the park.

This year’s summer parade will feature floats used in past summer and Halloween parades. The big difference is that this year, no water effects will be used, and the parade will also not be making many stops along the parade route.
The parade will include popular characters from the Peanuts, Hello Kitty, Minions, and Sesame Street all dressed in colorful summer costumes. There will also be plenty of dancers, singers, and flag twirlers in the parade.
The parade will start near the Terminator 2: 3D attraction and finish near the Spider-Man ride. The parade runs daily at 11:00 AM and lasts about 40 minutes. Below is the parade route, with the parade starting from the left of the map and moving around the Hollywood and New York areas of the park.
Social Distancing Guidelines
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the follow social distancing and safety guidelines will be implemented during the parade:
- Guests must wear a mask at all times, except when eating or drinking. Put your mask back on once you are done eating or drinking.
- Keep a safe distance between yourself and other guests.
- Avoid directly facing other guests.
- There will be no special viewing areas, kids’ areas, changing rooms, or water stations. However, there will be a viewing area for guests with wheelchairs.
- Guests cannot bring water guns to the park, and they also will not be sold in the park.
- Do not make direct contact with the performers.
- Do not follow the parade or make large crowds along the parade route.

Before You Go
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Japan continues to have strict travel restrictions to enter the country. We recommend postponing your trip until next year. For those living in Japan, make sure to check with local government advisories on the safety of traveling between prefectures.
More Things to Do in Tokyo
My recommendations for things to do in and around Tokyo! Plan a day at the Hello Kitty theme park, Sanrio Puroland, and an afternoon at the popular TeamLab Planets TOKYO. Take a tour around Tokyo with the convenient hop-on and-off bus. Spend a rainy afternoon inside Japan’s largest indoor theme park, Tokyo Joyoplis, near Tokyo Disney!
