What to Expect: Halloween 2019 Merchandise at Tokyo Disney Resort
Merchandise at Tokyo Disney Resort is one of the most popular and talked about aspects of this wonderful Resort in Japan. I get asked quite often about what to expect when it comes to crowds on merchandise release days and what items I think will sell out.
I’m trying out some new content to help with these types of questions. If you enjoy this, please let me know in the comments!
Halloween merchandise comes out on September 2, 2019, at both Parks (the event starts September 10 through October 31). While the Duffy and Friends Delightful Autumn Woods merchandise is released on August 28, 2019, at Tokyo DisneySea. Here’s what I predict for crowds on the release days and what I think may sell out (and what to do).
Crowds on Release Day
Halloween is rather popular and garners long lines when merchandise is released. Expect the line for Bon Voyage to extend down the bridge towards Tokyo Disneyland. You’ll probably wait over an hour most of the day. If you really want the first choice of items, you’ll want to get there about an hour to 30-minutes before the store opens at 07:30.
As for the Grand Emporium at Tokyo Disneyland and Emporio at Tokyo DisneySea, there will be lines to get into the stores for the first day. First thing in the morning, unless you’re there right at Park open, you’ll be waiting to get into the stores. I’d set aside anywhere between 30- to 60-minutes to do your shopping.
The waits should slow down (or become non-existent) in the late afternoon into the evening. Bon Voyage, the Emporium, and Emporio, are the shops that carry the full range of items for the season. You’ll find other Halloween items at various stores throughout the resort but not the full selection.
Crowds that are there to buy merchandise don’t affect waits for attractions. For crowds, in general, check out my guide here.
Duffy and Friends Delightful Autumn Woods
Duffy merchandise release crowds are a bit more intense than park-specific merchandise crowds. There will be lines at Galleria Disney (park entrance), McDuck’s Department Store, & Aunt Peg’s Village Store. There are select items in Mermaid Lagoon in some cases too. Depending on the crowds, you’ll get a return time so you don’t need to stand in line. I’ve seen wait times from 3-4 hours and even longer sometimes.
Merchandise Sell-Out Predictions
After living in Japan for the past 6-years, I have been through many merchandise release days. Here’s what I think could sell-out based on past experience and what to expect for restocking. It goes without saying, this is a prediction and I could be completely wrong (or right who knows). If you notice something is sold out (or restocked), leave it in the comments to help other Explorers!

I’ve seen some items in the past sell-out on the first day then not come back for a few weeks. Check the Japanese Tokyo Disney Resort website (with Google Translate) to browse the seasonal items. It’ll indicate in red-text if the item is sold out and when it’s expected to go back in stock.

More Things to Do in Tokyo
My recommendations for things to do in and around Tokyo! Plan a day at the Hello Kitty theme park, Sanrio Puroland, and an afternoon at the popular TeamLab Planets TOKYO. Take a tour around Tokyo with the convenient hop-on and-off bus. Spend a rainy afternoon inside Japan’s largest indoor theme park, Tokyo Joyoplis, near Tokyo Disney!

The Haunted Mansion bride ears/veil will surely sell out again! Was at the parks last year and by October 1st, they were sold out, never to return 🙁 Tragic! But this year, I bought them online (pre-sale)… fingers crossed!
I’m loving the Mickey ghost/churro/pumpkin. Hoping it’s still there or restocked for October 1 visit.
