New Years Greeting 2015
New Years at Tokyo Disney Resort is an experience in which any Disney fan would appreciate. From limited food to merchandise to entertainment. One of the most uniquely Japanese Disney Shows of the year happens from January 1st to 5th. New Years Greeting is a short, but sweet, show that happens at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
What is the New Years Greeting
Mickey, Minnie, and their Friends (Duffy and Shellie May appear at DisneySea) greet guests in their most lavish New Years Kimonos. When they say “greeting” they do not mean a “Meet and Greet” like in the US Parks. But simply a very short parade or harbor show. They wish all the guests Happy New Years or あけましておめでとうございます (Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu), as they show off their attire (which you can buy in plush form).
DisneySea
At DisneySea a float zips around the Mediterranean Harbor in a very quick, yet cute, show. The float stops are various points along the harbor so everyone gets a chance to take photos. The best spot is at Lido Isle, which fills up quickly. Be sure to get there early.

Disneyland
A short parade where Mickey and Friends go along the parade route. One the first day of the greeting you will get a chance to see the Ambassadors for the year.
Overall, while the shows are rather short, they are worth seeing. Simply because you cannot see anything like this at any of the other Disney Parks, this is uniquely Japanese. If you’re fortunate enough to visit during this time, we highly recommend seeing it. And of course buying some of the adorable merchandise, if it isn’t sold out yet.
