Earthquake Temporarily Suspends Attractions at Tokyo Disney Resort

Yesterday an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 shook the Kanto region (which includes the Tokyo area). No immediate injuries or damages reported. Nor an alert of a tsunami.

Oriental Land Company (who operates Tokyo Disney Resort) takes safety seriously to ensure the safety of their guests. Attractions are equip with mechanisms to stop when an emergency occurs. During yesterdays earthquake a number of attractions suspended operation for a short period of time. Guests posted photos on Twitter immediately following the quake.

These photos are from Journey to the Center of the Earth in Tokyo DisneySea.

Japan’s building codes for structures are strict, and considered one of the safest places in the world during an earthquake. Before a trip to Japan, we recommend reading about what to do during an earthquake. Also, Cast Members are trained to handle such situations.

As a life long Disney fan visiting the various resorts around the world is a must. Always planning the next adventure and willing to share it with Disney enthusiasts across the globe. My love of everything Disney comes from the quality story telling in the classics and the box office hits of today. The unsurpassed guest experience keeps entices me to return.
