Universal Studios Japan is celebrating a huge milestone this year as Super Nintendo World marks its fifth anniversary. Since opening on March 18, 2021, the land has redefined what themed entertainment can be. The 5th Anniversary celebration runs from 18 March 2026 to 11 January 2027, featuring special decorations, interactive experiences, entertainment, and limited-edition food and merchandise.

5th Anniversary Decorations
The celebration starts the moment you step into Super Nintendo World, with the entrance transformed with decorations created exclusively for the 5th anniversary. The centrepiece is a large, star-filled anniversary cake topped with Super Stars, making for a perfect spot for commemorative photos.

New Entertainment: Star Hunt March
One of the standout additions is a limited-time performance titled “Great Adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom! Exciting Star Hunt March.” The story centres around Super Stars that have been scattered across the Mushroom Kingdom. Guests are invited to join Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and friends as they search for the missing stars. *Performance details may change depending on crowd levels and area conditions.

Meet Mario, Donkey Kong, and a Special Anniversary Yoshi
Character meet-and-greets are getting a boost for the anniversary, with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong all appearing throughout the land. Yoshi also joins the lineup in a special appearance exclusive to the 5th anniversary. Guests wearing Power-Up Bands can enjoy enhanced interactions and collect coins, digital stamps, and other surprises.

Merchandise
Fans can grab the “Invincible Mario” Anniversary Power-Up Band, available at One-Up Factory and the Universal Studios Japan Online Store from March 18th. Inspired by Mario’s Super Star power-up, the band lets guests tackle key challenges, collect coins, and interact with the land in new ways.

The anniversary collection covers a mix of everyday essentials, collectibles, and wearable pieces. On the apparel side, there’s a cosy parka and several T-shirt designs, all featuring bold graphics inspired by the land. These are easy additions if you want something you can wear both in the parks and at home.

The 5th anniversary brings a range of limited-time Superstar-themed foods to Super Ninendo World. The Superstar Popcorn Bucket flashes in various colours and plays the familiar Mario Super Star music.

The decorative cake found at the entrance of the land has been turned into an edible Super Nintendo World Anniversary Cake at Toad Cafe, serving four people – making it both a tasty treat and a perfect photo opportunity.

Those after something more filling may enjoy the Superstar Anniversary Plate featuring Mushroom Lasagna and Fried Chicken, served with fluffy Superstar bread and topped decorated with Mario icons.

Outside the land, at Mario Cafe & Store, the Invincible! Superstar Pancake Sandwich -Mango offers a mango-filled pancake topped with star-shaped sugar flakes – a perfect treat to celebrate the occasion.

Guests will also be treated to eye-catching themed drinks inspired by Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach.
