Construction on Shanghai Disneyland’s highly anticipated Spider-Man coaster has reached another exciting stage, with Shanghai Disney Resort releasing a new image showing the attraction’s ride vehicle undergoing testing.
The new photo gives us a closer look at the coaster train as it moves along the track, with Shanghai Disneyland’s Enchanted Storybook Castle visible in the background. The newly released images shows how Walt Disney Imagineering is checking the clearance around the ride vehicles, testing to ensure there is enough space between riders and surrounding track and structures.
The large circular structures seen around the vehicle are part of these ‘push-pull’ clearance checks, undertaken at slow speeds. The testing is carried out at such a slow speed so the team can identify and measure any areas where the vehicle comes close to surrounding elements. Once these checks are complete, the attraction can progress towards more advanced stages of testing.
Walt Disney Imagineering also released the below Instagram video explaining the push-pull stage of testing, giving us a close up view of the coaster car.
The testing marks another step forward for the new attraction, which will become Disney’s first-ever Spider-Man-themed coaster when it opens at Shanghai Disneyland.
