Huis Ten Bosch Unveils Its Biggest Halloween Event Ever for 2026

Halloween is getting a major upgrade at Huis Ten Bosch this year, with new characters, new entertainment, and even more reasons to visit Japan’s Dutch-themed resort. Running from September 18 through November 3, 2026, the autumn event combines intense horror, family-friendly Miffy fun, spectacular nighttime entertainment, and seasonal food from across Kyushu.

Haunted Halloween Returns with a New Villain

The biggest changes come to the park’s popular Haunted Halloween event, held in front of Palace Huis Ten Bosch. This year introduces a brand-new villain known as the Death King, who brings even more terror to the gathering of the park’s dark messengers. Pirates, mummies, and other creatures will roam the palace grounds, creating an immersive horror experience designed to make guests scream and run.

The event’s signature Haunted Dance night show also returns with new music and choreography. After surviving the scares, guests can join the messengers of darkness for a high-energy dance party.

Miffy and Friends Debut Halloween Costumes

For families, the park’s Miffy Halloween celebrations are expanding with a brand-new daytime parade. The new Miffy & Friends Halloween Party Parade will see Miffy and Melanie joined by Boris Bear and Grunty Pig, all appearing in Halloween costumes for the first time.

The fun continues at Miffy Wonder Square with Ghost Miffy and Melanie’s Greeting, where guests can meet ghost versions of the characters wearing sheet-style costumes exclusive to this seasonal event.

Additional activities include a Halloween-themed Trick or Treat event, where guests can collect sweets throughout the park, plus a special rally featuring Miffy-themed treats.

Seasonal Miffy Food and Merchandise

Miffy fans will also find plenty of limited-time seasonal offerings throughout the event. New Halloween-themed food combines autumn flavours such as chestnut and purple sweet potato with festive pumpkin and bat designs.

Exclusive merchandise will also be available, including new ghost-themed Miffy items created especially for the Halloween season.

Shower of Lights Gets a Halloween Upgrade

The park’s popular Shower of Lights night spectacular is also receiving a significant refresh. Starting September 14, the show will feature additional performers, expanded live vocals, enhanced music arrangements, and new lighting effects. The production combines fountains, lights, music, and fireworks.

On select dates, Huis Ten Bosch will also present Shower of Lights: Special Edition, featuring an even larger fireworks finale, where fireworks fill your entire field of vision.

Taste of Kyushu Returns for Autumn

The popular Taste of Kyushu food festival returns with an expanded lineup celebrating the region’s autumn harvest. Guests can sample dishes featuring premium ingredients from across Kyushu, including Nagasaki Wagyu beef, Oita-grown vegetables, and Kagoshima sweet potatoes.

Highlights include seared Nagasaki Wagyu beef with garlic pilaf, premium Wagyu grilled skewers, and Anno sweet potato crème brûlée. A Wine Festival will run alongside the event, offering 50 wines from around the world, plus draft beer and non-alcoholic beverages served along the canal-side terraces.

Guests looking for an elevated dining experience can also enjoy two new seasonal offerings at Hotel Europe. The Autumn Afternoon Tea combines Kyushu seasonal ingredients with live music in the elegant Anchors Lounge. the Dinner & Dessert Cruise begins with a multi-course dinner featuring Kyushu ingredients before guests board a dessert cruise through the resort’s waterways.

Reservations for both hotel dining experiences open on July 1.

The Halloween event arrives during a period of rapid expansion for Huis Ten Bosch. Recent additions include the world’s only Miffy-themed area, Miffy Wonder Square, and Evangelion: The Ride – 8K. The new Alice in Borderland immersive attraction is also scheduled to open in August.
